We take API key security very seriously. Your API keys are protected using multiple layers of security:
- AES-256-CBC Encryption: All API keys are encrypted using industry-standard AES-256-CBC encryption before being stored in the database.
- Unique Encryption Keys: Each installation uses a unique 64-character hexadecimal encryption key that never leaves your server.
- Random Initialization Vectors (IV): Each API key is encrypted with a unique random IV.
- Row Level Security (RLS): Database-level policies ensure users can only access their own API keys.
Data retention varies by plan:
- Free Plan: 1 month of data retention. Alert history and balance history older than 30 days are automatically deleted.
- Pro Plan: 1 year of data retention. Alert history and balance history older than 1 year are automatically deleted.
We have an intelligent failure handling system to protect you from false alerts:
- Provider errors (timeouts, 500 errors, rate limits) - Not counted against you
- User errors (invalid API key, authentication failures) - Counted as failures
- Free Plan: After 5 consecutive user-error failures, the monitor is automatically disabled
- Pro Plan: After 30 consecutive user-error failures, the monitor is automatically disabled
Our alert system is designed to keep you informed without spamming you:
- Triggered when your balance drops below your custom threshold
- Sent via email by default (from
alerts@quota.sh) - 24-hour cooldown: Only one alert per monitor per 24 hours to prevent spam
- Includes current balance, threshold, and provider information
